The next generation of ballers is up-and-coming; many are still in elementary school.
At just nine years old, Emily Rivera has extraordinary talent and ability. She was one of the best players on the hardwood in her age division.
Don’t let the age fool you. Rivera can force turnovers, play hard-nosed defense, and handle the ball. Her basketball IQ allows her to pick up on cues during the game to anticipate her opponent’s next move, which leads to steals and fastbreak opportunities.
When you see her play, it’s evident that she spends much time working on her game. Every day after school, she practices with her father to get better.
“I love basketball because it’s fun,” said Rivera. “I just hustle and try to be brave.”
Remember the name, Emily Rivera, because it won’t be the last time you hear it.
