One of the most popular topics at any tournament is debating who the best players are. From the start of the KB Sports Queen of the Court Tournament to the last game, there were players whose talent separated them from everyone else.
With the rise of the amount of AAU teams, you know a gem when you see one.
Rin Drudge, Laila Harvey, and Parris Parham were three notable players who dominated on the court amongst their peers.
Rin Drudge was one of the top players with excellent court vision. It’s been a long time since I saw a player who sees the floor, handles the ball, and shoots the lights out in the gym. She makes smart decisions under pressure. Says Drudge, “My mindset is always to hustle and put in the most work that I can and get the ball down the floor.” She can cash in from deep, get into a fast rhythm in transition offense, and put pressure on the opponent with her sharp basketball IQ. Her overall game is reliable and efficient.
Laila Harvey falls under the category of a player who has something to prove. Harvey is a mature player and has what it takes to lead a team. “I like to get my teammates involved and give them opportunities to score,” said Harvey. “AAU is a different environment. I can be myself on the court.” Seeing Harvey be herself is fun to watch. She plays with heart and goes hard on every possession, whether attacking the basket or getting the ball to her teammates.
Parris Parham is an elite talent who can do it all. She’s a threat to the opposing team because she’s versatile. “One thing that separates me from other players is that I can play every position,” said Parham. She can adapt according to the needs of each possession. Parham was one of the most all-around players on the hardwood and could maintain consistent efficiency in each position. Her talent is unmatched, which makes her a star when she steps on the court.
