Creekside’s season has been the perfect love story. When you watch them play, you can see their chemistry and love for the game.
The Lady Noles had a date with Midtown on Valentine’s Day in front of a packed gym. Instead of chocolates and roses, the undefeated Creekside received a gold ball after defeating Midtown to become the 4-AAAA Region Champions.
A love story as profound and intricate as this one is not written overnight; it unfolds gradually, requiring time, unwavering commitment, and dedication. Each game is a new chapter of the story, weaving dreams, hopes, and challenges faced together. It’s a journey of patience, where the coaches and players invest their hearts and souls.
“I realized that Skye fell in love with basketball in 8th grade, and ever since then, she’s been on go. Basketball runs in the family. Her father played collegiate basketball and is Skye’s mentor and personal coach. We’re spending Valentine’s Day here watching our baby ball. I’m so proud of her. She’s worked hard and is getting all of her flowers,” said Maya Cleveland, mother of Skye Cleveland.
Skye is a senior at Creekside, where she was named First-Team All-Region for two consecutive years.
Says Skye, “I was a ballet dancer, but we didn’t have practice that day. I went in there and dribbled the ball. I shot it. I was bad, but I wanted to play. I wanted to keep going. My coach passed away, so I wanted to keep going for him. So, I love basketball because of him and my family.”
