When it comes to hooping, stopping Kyla Greene and Savannah Robinson-Holmes is difficult. The two are almost unstoppable when they’re on the floor together.
The Langston Hughes High School duo is special. When they play, they work flawlessly off each other.
From her smooth stroke and ability to use angles to get to the basket and finish, Kyla’s overall offensive arsenal makes it impossible to question her talent. She makes intelligent decisions when the ball is in her hand.
Being the only returning starter from last year’s team would be a lot of pressure for an average player, but there’s nothing average about Kyla. Head Coach Xavier Trice says, “She’s waited her time, and it’s now. She’s leading us in scoring and being consistent offensively and defensively.”
Savannah is a savvy point guard who can easily create offense because she can shoot, drive, and pass the ball. She doesn’t just focus on scoring; she drops dimes and gets to the lane to create shots no one saw coming.
One thing that separates Savannah from other point guards is her ability to defend the ball. “She usually draws the toughest defensive matchup from the guard position on the floor. She has responded to that,” said Trice. “I’m proud of Savannah’s growth and the direction she’s going in this season.”
Basketball is a game of roles and responsibilities, but when you have a phenomenal duo, two can play that game. Kyla and Savannah exhibit a competitive fire and will to win, making opponents want to avoid facing them on the hardwood.
