UNION BEAT MUSTANG TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED

Union beat Mustang 50-37 on Friday night at the Jenks/Union Invitational. Senior, Kaylen Nelson had an outstanding performance. She finished with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

Says Nelson, “I have a great support system. My team definitely helped me do what I had to do. I believe that we came out on top just because of how hard we worked. I think that I thrive off of that and I’m just glad that I could help my team tonight.”

She certainly helped her team tonight. Her shooting from the free-throw line proved to be a difference-maker. She made 9 out of 10 free throws, two of them helped turn a three-possession game into a relatively comfortable win.

Union led by 14 points at halftime. Mustang tried to fight their way back into the game near the home stretch. They trailed by 8 points with three minutes left in the fourth quarter. However, Union never broke a sweat. No matter what was on the scoreboard, they played their game.

“This is by far our best year. There’s continuously going to be a target on our back. I definitely think that we can handle it,” said Nelson.

Union came into the game undefeated and handled business to keep it that way. They remain undefeated with a 14-0 record.
