THE ATHLETE’S GUIDE TO FIGURING STUFF OUT

Train on a day off or hang out with friends? Eat healthy or grab some fast food? Study or go to a party?

We all make many decisions daily, but that doesn’t make them accessible.

Time to be intentional with your choices. With these quick tips, even the most challenging decisions will be as simple as making a layup. Well, almost.

USE YOUR VOICE

Time to ditch your “whatever” attitude. You’re not too young to take ownership of your decisions, even the small ones. While it’s easy to go along with the flow, the more you let other people decide for you, the less you’ll be inclined to speak up for what truly matters to you.

TRUST YOUR INSTINCT

Not to get too deep, but there’s a reason the saying “trust your gut” has been around for years. The “gut reaction” is a real thing. You’ll make better choices when you’re in touch with what’s important to you.

Sometimes you have only a split second to make up your mind – like when a game comes down to the last second, and you have to score before the buzzer sounds.

LEARN FROM YOUR PAST

Decisions you’ve made before can help guide you when you’re faced with tough choices, like when you skipped hanging out to study and aced your test. But don’t just focus on the good moments; it’s also helpful to look at your bloopers. The memory of procrastinating on your school project or essay and then missing the deadline – can help you figure out what to do in the future.

Don’t sweat it; you got this!
