Why don’t we require a subscription to read our content? Girls Got Game provides an exclusive and influential voice in girls’ sports, and we believe all girls deserve access to our articles.  

Founded by Shampale Fenessa in 2020, Girls Got Game was created to be a positive platform for athletes.

During her youth, Shampale expressed an affinity for basketball, which secured her a scholarship to Voorhees College, a historically black college in Denmark, South Carolina, where she studied communication and played on its basketball team.

Off the court, she displayed a passion for writing. She graduated with an M.F.A. degree in Creative Writing from Mills College, a nationally renowned liberal arts women’s college in Oakland, California.

She combined her love for sports and writing to inspire and help girls feel seen. “Girl, your potential is endless” has always been her motto.
