SAND SPRINGS BATTLED BROKEN ARROW FOR A CLOSE WIN

The Sandites won a tough game on the road Tuesday night. Sand Springs defeated Broken Arrow 40-38 in a brutal battle. Tuesday night’s game was a physical matchup from start to finish.

Darrian Jordan stepped up for her team last night. She led all scorers for Sand Springs with 11 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

Sand Springs coach, Josh Berry was happy that his team won in a clutch. “I thought it was a great team win against a team that we find ourselves every game coming down to one possession,” Berry said. “We were able to overcome foul trouble with great bench play and control the tempo of the game with our guards.”

The Sandite girls came out strong, pounced on Broken Arrow, and led 10-5 within the first four minutes of the game.  Sand Springs got into foul trouble early in the game. They had five team fouls in the first quarter.

Sand Springs had the momentum in the first half. Broken Arrow didn’t score any points in the second quarter. At halftime, Broken Arrow trailed by nine points.

The second half of the game had the gym on edge. Both teams clashed possession after possession. Taleyah Jones knocked down a three making it a one-possession game with two minutes left in the fourth quarter. But Sand Springs wouldn’t back down. Sophomore, Hailey Jackson responded with an AND1.

Jackson finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.

Sakauri Wilson secured the win for Sand Springs at the stripe with less than 14 seconds remaining in the game.
