MADISON ROBERTS: UNFINISHED BUSINESS

MADISON ROBERTS is a 2021 6’0 combo guard at Classen SAS in Oklahoma City. She can do it all. Her game has the ability to capture your attention and leave you wanting more. She hustles on defense, grabs rebounds, and knocks down the three-ball.

At first glance, spectators may be quick to categorize her as simply a post player and that’s their first mistake. If you put her in a box, she’s sure to show you why she doesn’t belong there.

Says Roberts, “When I was a kid my family thought I was going to be a runt so we focused on my ball-handling skills. When I had a growth spurt they taught me post moves which made me the player I am today.”

As her senior year approaches, she’s hopeful for the future and has plenty to look forward to. Following graduation, she would like to attend college out of state.

“I have a great support group and my family would be supportive of whatever decision I choose,” said Roberts. In addition, she expressed gratitude for her coaches who have pushed her on and off the court.

Roberts recently received offers from Missouri Southern State University and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.

College isn’t the only thing that she’s looking forward to. She has unfinished business with her teammates. COVID-19 left her junior season up in the air. After working hard to get to the state championship, the season remains unsettled.

Says Roberts, ” I believe we would have won the state championship. It hit hard because coaches and players were putting in a lot of work to have a great season. I’m looking forward to going back with my team for the chance to win next season.”

While last season was unresolved, it lit a flame under Roberts and gave her and her teammates something to work towards.

When it’s all said and done, basketball has taught her many lessons and has fostered a sisterhood she wouldn’t change for anything.

“Basketball has taught me to love people for who they are,” said Roberts.
