HER TURN TO SHINE

CHRISTEN CURRY lives by the motto, “Failure is temporary.” Basketball has taught her to fight through failures. Says Curry, “You can always reach your goals if you push through the hard times.”

Growing up in a household with older brothers who hooped, it was only natural for her to pick up a basketball. “All of my brothers played so I wanted to give it a try,” said Curry. Now it’s her turn to shine.

These days she’s working out nearly twice a day in an effort to improve her game as she heads to Colorado Christian University. Her first two years of college were spent at Johnson County Community College. She believes that players should work on their game during the offseason so that they can become the player they want to be at crunch time.

She’s been training with her older brother, Kennan Curry Jr., founder, and owner of Feed Your Game.

Says Curry, “Training with my brother has been fun. I get to see a different side of him. I love seeing how passionate he is about the game. We’re building a bond and legacy through basketball.”

Curry’s game plan is going just as she planned. Her playbook has her set up for success. Basketball has been the gateway for her to fulfill her goal of getting a college education and becoming a psychologist.

“I wanted an opportunity to have my education paid for while playing the game that I love,” said Curry.

Curry knows what it’s like to be a young girl aspiring to hoop on a collegiate level. She dropped a few jewels for young hoopers everywhere.

Says Curry, “Make sure you get into the gym and play against boys. Playing against boys gives you a certain toughness that you can incorporate into your game.”
