Editor’s Letter – October

I launched Girls Got Game six months ago. At the time I didn’t think that it was a good idea to start a business. Gyms were closing and seasons were forced to end due to COVID-19.

I’m grateful that I decided to move forward with my idea. You all have been extremely supportive during this journey. I don’t have all of the answers but I know that Girls Got Game is evolving and we’re excited to have you experience this journey with us.

Lately, I find myself looking for ways to use my voice to share hope. I’m not afraid to be different than all the other media outlets. I’m not always concerned about who scores the most points, I want players to be heard and seen for who they are. Humanity is more important to Girls Got Game than stats.

Our core values have always been deeper than basketball. However, I’m truly focused on the ways in which I can use my platform for paving the way for girls to have a bright future.

Girls Got Game is making sure that “girl power” is more than just a buzz word or trendy hashtag. Together we can break the glass ceiling. This is why we play like a girl.
