CAYDEN MERSHON: GRACEFUL LEFTY

CAYDEN MERSHON is a special player. The rising junior at Metro Christian Academy is a 5’5 left-handed point guard that handles the rock with ease. Her game is well-rounded, and she’s a disciplined team player.

When facilitating the offense, she looks to get others involved, however, she isn’t timid about looking to score herself. Her ability to create offense and shoot the three-ball is a lethal combination.

She has a great work ethic and hunger for the game. Says Mershon, “I train every day. My dad said that hard work pays off and I believe that.”

Growing up with three older brothers who played ball, she’s been around the game since she was young. Working out with her brothers and their teammates made her a better player.

While hooping with the boys made her tougher, she feels like playing sports overall can build a girl’s confidence.

“Playing sports makes you aware of your potential. When you see progress it builds your confidence and helps you to believe in yourself, said Mershon. She believes that you can always push yourself, mind, and body more than you think that you can.

Hooping has made her a more responsible person. She’s also had to make some sacrifices such as choosing to go to the gym instead of hanging out with friends.

She’s a humble player that gets her inspiration from God. Says Mershon, “My biggest inspiration is God. I set high standards for myself and that inspires me to become the best version of myself.”
